Cloudflare’s 1.1.1.1 app has been around for months now; encrypting and speeding up DNS queries to make the web faster and safer. Today after an extended wait, the next iteration is finally live for everyone to use: Warp.
Warp applies Cloudflare’s Argo VPN tunnel technology to your connections, end to end, optimizing and securing not only your domain lookups but also all the web pages and resources you connect to. You can read about the technical details here, but it couldn’t be easier to use: just install the Cloudflare app and a tap the “on” switch. You’re done.
The best part is, it’s free, forever. There’s really no reason not to use it.
I’ve been using this app for months now, as well as using Cloudflares DNS across my entire home network as well as the encrypted DNS provider on Android (which Google added support for in Android 9 Pie). I’m thrilled about this new VPN and recommend absolutely everyone give it a try.
