I use 3 separate browser profiles and needed a way to tell them apart on my taskbar, so I gave each profile a bold color theme and made matching hue-shifted icon for it to pin to the Windows taskbar.

9 variations on the Microsoft Edge icon color; Holy ROYGBIV batman, I made more icons than I need.

If you’d like the icon files they’re in my OneDrive at cmdrkeene.com/r/EdgeHueIcons. Save them to your computer wherever you like (I store them in C:\Users\Shawn\OneDrive\Archives\Customization\Icons\Edge Hue Icons), which is exactly where you’re getting them from with that above link.

this also works on Google Chrome

To use one of these as an icon on your taskbar, first make sure the browser profile is pinned to your taskbar. Then:

  1. Right-click the browser profile pinned taskbar icon
  2. Right-click the named entry of the browser profile (“Teleflora – Edge” in my example)
  3. Click Properties

Once you’ve got properties open, you can click Change Icon and browse to where you saved the file. After you save your changes, it may not take effect until the next time you login to your PC or restart Explorer’s process. I recommend just performing a quick sign-out and then log back in.
