In the 90s, Microsoft heavily integrated their operating system and browser. Even in the latest release, Windows 10 version 1709, an option that decidedly makes more sense in Folder Options inexplicably resides in the control panel that dates back to 1993.
The Start menu search, Cortana, search engines, and more all suggest as you type. But to get this goodness in your File Explorer, Run box, and other common dialogs like Save As and Open, or combo boxes in places like in mstsc, you’ll need to head to the obvious place, …your Internet Options…of course.
The quickest way to reach the Internet Options is type Windows+R to open the run box, and enter this magical phrase: inetcpl.cpl
When you click OK, you’ll see options that are used by Internet Explorer most commonly. Head to the Advanced tab though, and you’ll find options ranging from the mundane to the critical, from multimedia to encryption and security. But if you page down twice, you’ll land somewhere near the Auto Complete options for File Explorer:
After you click apply, you’ll see inline suggestions as you type, brining you just a few keystrokes closer to your task every day.
